Co-hosts Equatorial Guinea are looking forward to building on their opening victory at the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nzalang Nacional pipped Libya 1-0 in the tournament opener on Saturday night at a packed Estadio de Bata and captain Juvenal tells Cafonline.com they won’t be resting on their oars.
“The victory is very important for us. In competitions like this, the points are very crucial. We will tackle the remaining matches with the same approach depending on the technical abilities of the team.
“We are very happy to win the first match and hope to build on it,” said the midfielder who plays for Spanish side Sabadella.
Juvenal however discounted the impact of a huge bonus promised the team in the event of the capture of the three points against the North Africans.
“Most of us play in Europe and are familiar with such packages. It is not for the money and that is not a major issue. We are determined to make an impact and that is the driving force.”
The co-hosts will next play Senegal and Zambia on January 25 and January 29 in Bata and Malabo respectively.
