Gyan lifts Stars Spirit in camp

Gyan is the major injury doubt for Ghana ahead of the Nations Cup having picked up a second grade hamstring injury at Al Ain.

But he emerged to train with the side for the first time on Saturday after undergoing treatment at the hands of Serbian horse placenta therapist Mariana Kovacevic, lifting the spirits of everyone at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

Defender Daniel Opare says: "Asamoah Gyan is a very good player. He is central to the Ghana strike force and for most footballers injuries can be very problematic so we are happy for him and happy that he is looking fit. I was happy to see him back and so were a lot of the players when he came out today."

But players are keen to point out that Ghana's campaign does not rest entirely on the man who has been the main source of goals for the Black Stars in recent years.

"It doesnt matter who the coach chooses to play. Everything depends on the coach. He knows the players, he knows our various strengths and weaknesses," Opare says.
